Please Stop Treating Essential Oils Like Anointing Oils
While the essential oil craze is in full effect, (trust me, i get it, I use them for everything too), anointing oils have somehow gotten lost in the mix. They are not the same thing at all and there's a good reason why you want to use anointing oils for your manifestations!
Essential oils are awesome and can be used for a multitude of physical and emotional ailments. They definitely have their place and it's good practice to keep a few around the house. PSA though, avoid the pushy oil sale folk. In my experience, they don't necessarily have your best interest at heart and I've seen dangerous advice given too many times to count. Please get your essential oil info from reputable sources, (not people who make more money if you use large amounts of oil on everything). Now, onto anointing oils.
Anointing oils can have essential oils in them, but they are so much more than that. Anointing oils also contain herbs, carrier oils, and crystals all working in harmony to bring about a desired metaphysical effect. These oils are blended together and prayed over. Then are normally placed on an altar of some kind for a prescribed amount of weeks or months. They are imbued with spiritual essence. They are literally a manifestation in a bottle.
These oils are used to anoint yourself in the way that people have been anointing themselves since ancient civilization. We anoint ourselves to draw in the things that we want, repel the things that we don't, and to claim the fact that we are important and significant spiritual beings. This spiritual practice transcends everything and aligns you with the vibration you need to live fully in your purpose.
Some examples of anointing oils include, attraction oil (to attract love, money, and luck), success oil, protection oil, prosperity oil, uncrossing oil, attention oil, power oil, and road opening oil. Most of these recipes are not readily available online, ( at least not the reputable ones). You should always get your oils from a reputable spiritual worker, or if you do have the recipes, certainly make your own.
Some ways to consider using these oils are obviously anointing yourself, adding to a bath, dressing a candle, blessing beauty products, adding to shoes, sprinkling in doorways, adding to floor washes, adding to your laundry, and applying as a perfume. There are many other creative uses, but you get the idea.
Quick side note about Smudging for spiritual cleansing. Smudging is done by using the purifying smoke paired with intention and sometimes prayer to cleanse a person, place, or thing. It is a very spiritual practice that has been performed forever (I mean not really, but a super long time). If someone tells you that putting few drops of sage essential oil in a cute diffuser in the corner of your living room is an effective substitute for authentic smudging, they are sadly mistaken. It dilutes and cheapens a spiritual practice all in the name of looking cutting edge and trendy. I'm not even going to touch on how this is generally done by people who don't even come from a culture with a specific history of smudging...and, we"ll talk about better things to smudge with besides sage at a later date. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk!
