Having the Happiest of Holidays on a Budget!

Do you get anxiety every December? Do you find yourself in debt when January rolls around? Do you dread all the chaotic shopping of the holidays? There really is a better way.

I used to freak out every year around this time. I obsessed over trying to show my love for others by the price tag on their gift. It took all of the joy out of giving, stressed me to the max, and left me worrying about January's bills.

This season is not a competition for who can spend the most money. Its also not about matching the cost of gifts that are given to you. Its about the love and care that goes into choosing a gift for someone else.

In our home, we make pretty much everyone's gifts during the holidays now. This ensures that everyone gets personalized gifts that suit them and a lot of thought goes in to each and every one! We also don't go into massive debt. I prepare by purchasing the materials throughout the year, so I don't have to worry about getting everything in December. (Not to mention the anxiety when you order gifts online in December and then they may not come in time for you to give them to your loved ones.)

I make things like sugar scrubs, bath soaks, room and linen sprays, car sprays, garden bug sprays, body butters, hand salves, roller bottle blends, beard oils, as well as ornaments, photo collections, and my husband makes personalized artisan jewelry. These gifts are appreciated and sure to be used! A lot of love goes into each and every one and it takes the stress out of the holidays, allowing us to truly enjoy the season.

Chances are you have some skill to be able to make something. Perhaps you can bake really well or you love putting together goody baskets. Maybe you love painting or some other artistic expression, like pottery or sculpting. It could be candle making or anything else that speaks to you that you know you could do to show your loved ones that you love them.

Don't get caught up in the consumerism of the holidays. Give yourself the gift of joy and stress-free gift giving while showing your friends and family your love by making them personalized gifts. They will appreciate them, you'll feel great about them, and you won't have massive debt next month!
